The First Day of Fall
Today Brinestone informed me that today is the first day of fall. She was excited because she loves fall. My response: “Oh sad.” She retorted, “Fall isn’t sad—winter is sad.” To which I replied, “Fall is the beginning of sadness.” She laughed and said that sounded deep. Maybe I’ll write a poem or something.
But what a fitting first day of fall it’s been—cold and grey and wet. Don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cold out there today. It’s cold out there every day.

You get five points for picking up on the Groundhog Day reference and minus ten points for agreeing with Brinestone.

You want a prediction, you’re asking the wrong Phil. Here’s your winter prediction: It’s going to be cold, it’s going to be gray, and it’s going to last you the rest of your life.

Imagine a man telling his wife “You look like the end of a long, hard winter.”
Now imagine him saying instead “You look like the first day of spring.”
Now imagine the engineer in the room saying “Those two are exactly the same thing!”

Ha! Sometimes I think I should’ve been an engineer.
