The UN Is Trying to Take My Guns Away

Or so the NRA says. I should know because they just called me to thank me for my past support and to ask me how I would feel if the UN came and took my guns away, which they’re apparently trying to do by pushing a law through Congress that would kill the Second Amendment and make even hunting rifles illegal.

Wait—back up a minute. I’ve never given the NRA money. Well, apparently that’s of no concern, because they’d certainly love to have me start giving them money. So how do I feel about the fact that the UN is trying to destroy my precious Second Amendment?

I try to ignore this brain-bending bit of political nonsense and tell the woman on the phone that I’m not interested, but she insists once again that they’d love to have my support and then starts blathering on some more about how this law is going to go through the House and Senate and wipe out my constitutional rights . . .

And that’s about when I hung up.

Didn’t realize the UN got to vote in the House. Or the Senate, for that matter. I should start paying more attention to politics.

When I held that gun in my hand, I felt a surge of power . . . Like God must feel when he’s holding a gun.

Brozy: That’s exactly what makes it so terrifying. The UN is both all-powerful and all-pervasive. I’m sure that once they disarm the American populace, they’ll overthrow our government and take away our rights.

Melyngoch: It’s a well-known fact that the Constitution was direct revelation, so I imagine that God himself has an extensive collection of firearms—mostly for recreation, of course, but I’m sure he’d use them in a heartbeat if the UN tried to take over heaven.

Actually, I did hear on the news that during the Katrina incident some police in the New Orleans area were trying to forceably disarm citizens, regardless of whether they were actually using their firearms, or how. In response, our legislators have introduced bills (in both sections) to make this action illegal. I wonder if they’ve heard of the Bill of Rights.
